Deputies conducted a DUI/License checkpoint in Compton that garnered six arrests and four vehicles that were impounded, according to the sheriff’s department.
The operation at Central and Rosecrans avenues ran from 6 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday morning, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Daniel Dail of the Traffic Services Detail.
A total of 1,079 vehicles were screened, Dail said. Deputies arrested two people for allegedly driving under the influence of marijuana, one for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana, two for illegal possession of narcotics and one person for knowingly allowing an unlicensed motorist to drive.
Dail said 12 people were also cited, five for driving with a suspended or revoked license and seven for being unlicensed. Four vehicles were also impounded.
The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
